psx 2 probs
Can anyone help i had my psx2 chipped about 18 months ago for about 6 months it was fine. then it didnt like playing compact disc based games like boot disc just kept saying disc read error it played dvd games ok but now it will not play all of them i have tried using cleaning disc but makes no difference i cant exchange it with sony as serial no has come off back any ideas please

You need to supply us with more information if we are going to find out the problem. We need to know what mod chip, what version ps2, who chipped it for you...as much information that you can give us.

sounds like fried laser.
Ps2 has two lasers, one CD one DVD. Sounds like yr cd one went first and now yr dvd one gone too. Either u have old PS2 like a version 3 or 4 and it has come to the end of its life or it has had a few bumps and knocks. It don't take much to damage the laser. U can get the laser recalibrated but this might not work if it';s totally had it, or u can get replacement lasers.
