I'dd add at the old cracking teams: Paradigm.
Man, I miss the DoxPacks. Most of the new groups seems to be unable to make a proper crack. Even Reloaded and Vitality are failing often lately. The new Razor1911 is still far from old days. Fairlight is just staying low. So I'd say that the cracking scene is pretty much busted compared to what was happening a few years ago.

A few years ago even I could crack games... It's not busting cracker groups, it's rather copy protections having gotten incomparably more sophisticated and thus a lot less people being able to crack them.

So I'm going to assume there's no 1.5 cracks out? Lame.

I recently seemed to lost my damned CD for the game, I've searched the entire living room, my own room, and the motorhome (where the computers are at), nothing! It aint anywhere! (And no, I aint buying another one, so shut it!). *sigh* I was pretty pissed the last few days, I "thought" I'd find it, but I can't. Wish they'd crack 1.5 though...I got a 1.2 crack, works fine, but I can't play any custom maps. Kinda sucks, but oh well.

Richard.

Before you go telling me to 'shut it' may I suggest you take the time to read our Forum Rules!

Forum Rule #1:
Do not discuss warez! Do not ask where to download illegal copies of PC/console games or how to make them work. Warez means not having the original CD/DVD, for reasons including but not limited to:
not having as many separately purchased original CD's/DVD's as the number of computers the game is played on (see the EULA!);
the original CD/DVD having been lost, damaged or unusable for any reason (kids, pets, damaged CD/DVD drive etc.);
the original CD/DVD being the wrong version, language or region (EU/UK/US/etc.);
the original CD/DVD having been rented from a shop, borrowed from someone, lent to someone, or left at another place;
having no compatible or properly working CD/DVD drive or having no CD/DVD drive at all.
If the CD/DVD is lost, damaged, wrong language etc., contact the publisher and they will send you a replacement, usually for a small fee. Note that not even having a working original CD/DVD allows you to download a pirated copy of the same game from the Internet!

Question Star Wars:Empire At War 1.05

I followed these instructions to the letter and I'm still asked to insert original disk instead of backup:

Quote:
Instructions:
1] Install the game and apply the Update v1.05.

2] Get the latest version of Daemon Tools (v4.08HE), mount the Mini-Image FPS_EAW1.mds) and enable all emulation options in Daemon Tools.

3] Download the latest version of YASU (v1.07) and execute it. Press Ok.

4] Play the game, have fun and...
what is the problem, these instructions along with mini-image are from here -

well then, it would have been nice to write an alternative to solve this problem instead of useless comment that doesn't help me one bit.

That is only Alien Firefox's own opinion!! Its not necassarily correct.

Yasu works for most but it doesnt work for some, its like anything to do with computers, they are all different.

Many people have reported Yasu works fine, but what works for some does not always work for others.

Sorry I dont have another solution for you right now.

Quick question...

In the case of this game, I'll stick with the 1.2 version. That said, before buying the expansion pack, does anyone know whether it does an automatic/forced update when installing it? Won't be buying it if I can't use EAW1.2. Well, at least until there's a new crack that allows use with the later patches.

Really, I didn't pay good money for this game just to not even play it because of these stupid hassles. I own a legit copy, that should be enough, guess it's not. Man, the consumer is really taking it up the butt these days in regards to everything...

The companies need to make their minds up, either let us use NOCD patches or make backups. Most I know if not given one of the two options just won't be buying their crap anymore if it gets that bad. Would suit them right if we did however, the game companies have taken us for granted one too many times.

Sheesh, I am already only buying games once they are less than $30, would hate to stop buying them all together, but will if pushed much longer! Their loss since I have way too many games to begin with...

I managed to play the 1.05 updated version using CureROM, but when I finished playing, later I coudn't get it to work again, after half hour of trying it worked again but now when I started it again it doesn't work at all no matter how many times I try it.

it always states some "emulation" error.

is there some explanation to this, I thought that the whole point of digital technology is it's predictability when you don't change anything from the last time something worked?!

How are you "taking it up the butt"?

I'm sorry, but I don't understand why it's so much of a hassle to just put the CD in and play it? Just because of that, you don't play a game that you supposedly paid "good money" for?

None of us like having to put the CD in to play every time, but it's not that much of a hassle if there is no working crack.

Your opinion, not mine!

I paid my hard earned money for it and with how the games these days do full installs, I shouldn't have to have my disc drives die on me because of overuse and the game companies being paranoid. Sheesh, there are many better ways to validate one's copy and they choose the ones that are a hassle for their legit customers. Very smart, not...

Either way, we are taking it but good with how every legal right we have is being taken away because they want to, legally or not. Backups, anyone? If that is not being screwed over what do you call it? Anyway, I for one am not getting on my knees to service anyone let alone these game companies. That's just my 2 cents however, anyone else can feel free to do so if they can't wait to play it though.

Oh well, it's not that big of a deal, there's too many more important things to worry about over this. It's just frustrating, is all!
