Need Some Serious Help

I tried to install a Messiah 2 pro v.1.30 into 2 differnt PS2's. First one was a version 3. Hooked up 3 wires, figured it was too hard, removed all 3 wires and now all I get is a black screen. Then I tried it on my v7 ps2. Installed the mod chip, all I get is a black screen. When I first turn on the ps2 all I get is a flicker on the screen and it justs stays black. Opened it up to check for wires that may have fallen off, none have. Checked continuity on all connections and everything seems fine. Don't know what to try next. Any help would be great.

Hate to say it but follow the troubleshooting guide toward the back of the Messiah 2 install guide. It basically states that if all else fails pull it back out, sop up as much solder as possible, and get it working again. Some other info would also help. The three wires you installed on the version three, what where they? BIOS, power, CD/DVD controller....? What type of wire are you using? What wattage soldering iron are you using? How fine is your tip? Hope you picked up some desoldering braid!

Just a guess - you bridged something, put on too much solder, or desoldered something you weren't supposed to.

Sorry we can't be much more help, we just have NO way of knowing what you gooned up.

On the v3 ps2, I only hooked up 3.3v, grd, and reset. Then I looked at how small the others pins were so I backed out. Unhooked those 3 wires, put the ps2 back together and now all I get is a black screen.

Didja hook everything back up? There are a ton of little jumpers to hook back up.

Pink, white x 2, black, green, orange... then the ribbon jumpers... two on/next to the DVD drive, one for the reset switch assembly, one for the controllers...

Then the fan jumper cable... and don't forget power!

It's either that, or you bridged a connection, or bent/broke something, or maybe you even blew a fuse (although others could help you better with that).

O.K. I think I all most have it. Got a brand new ps2 v7. Installed the messiah 2 pro. Now when I power up I get the setup screen ( language, time zone etc...) but when I put an original ps2 dvd game I get "disc read error" also I don't know if this is normal with the mod chip but every time I power down and restart it goes into setup mode all over again. Any suggestions?

The clock is actually running perfect. I did a search for "disc read error" and it looks like it's a problem with the laser. But my ps2 is brand spankin new. Pulled it right out the box and installed the modchip. I just went over the install 3 times with a magnifying glass and a multi meter checking for continuity at every point. Not one bridge checking it both ways 3 times. I tried all originals, Ps1, ps2 cd, ps2 dvd, movie dvd. All say disc reading error.
