I am going crazy.

Someone please help. My first few installs went well. Then i decided to change the chip in my PS2. Changed the laser in a broken PS2. Now I am working on a friends PS2. For some reason when I was done with all three of these consoles they all have the same symptoms. The disc only does a 1/4 turn. If no disc is in the system at all it will do 2 or 3 turns. I have checked all three for bridges and little peices of wire that could be bridging something, but I have not even tried to solder to the one I have changed the laser in. Nothing that I can find to cause this to happen. I do touch grounded metal before I work on any console and I work on an insulated surface. Somebody please give me any adivice at all before i blow me and my PS2's sky high.
