I'm praying to the great god of DC Megalexxx (or anyone else that can help!
)I'm a sad old retro-gamer, and recently d/l Midways Arcade Hits 2 from emule! I've been looking for a decent version of 720 and Spy Hunter for ages, and now I've got it, all on one CD! One prob tho! It won't boot on my PAL DC! Help! I'm so frustrated! It's a CDI, burn on DJ, but my DC recognises it as a music CD, even tho it won't play any music. I've tried Utopia, no joy there, I've tried patching it with PalPatcher, noy joy there either! Still, I've got a cracking set of matching coasters on my coffee table now! I'm no expert with these things, but I've d/l a few games b4 (NTSC) and they've all worked! How frustrating is this? Someone pleese help, I'm begging you! Look I'm even on my hands and knees! (honest!) Cheers

you can not be sure the image is intact unless you dl the rar-serie and extract it yourself, that´s the safe way. I remember mine worked straight away (Bobakk-release), I recall using the latest DJ 4.xx might have used palpatcher1.1 also. / CroCop

Hmmm. Interesting. I d/l the RAR file (Belokk) so it sounds like the same file. It uncompressed ok, and seemed to burn ok using DJ3.5, but Iv been reading some more posts on the forum, and it seems that CDI's created using a higher version sometimes gives odd results when burning using a lower version, so I might try that!
There also seems to be something going about called MIL-CD which I have got no idea what it is, but it concerns newer DC's and CDR's not working with them if the audio selfboot is programmed before the data selfboot. It seems most games are made like this, and I've not had any problems so far, but I have studied Echelons workaround for it, and will probably give it a go if all else fails. The reason I think this might be a problem is the fact that when I boot my DC with the Midway2 disc in it, my DC seems to think its an audio CD! I think I'll give DJ4 a shot first! More coasters on their way by the sounds of it! If I find any solutions, I'll post them, but if there are any other ideas out there I'd be glad to hear of them! Cheers dude! |

Try latest DJ 4.10.1063 should work for you. Also it looks like it could be backward-compatible with older images, I burned coaster-works (DJ 2.0 image) with no problem, gonna try later with VF3tb .nfo says its STRICTLY DJ 2.xx, we´ll see. Anyway hope it works for you! / CroCop

Hurray!
DJ4 has done the trick, burned 1st time and working fine! Thanx for the tip m8! Although I have to admit to being slightly dissapointed at the quality of the games, they're not exactly `arcade-perfect'! Gauntlet and Spy Hunter seem fine (from what I remember) But where is the background music to Paperboy and 720? I expected better! Oh well, not to worry, at least I've got my boot issue sorted out! Thanks again. P.S. Has anyone else noticed that DJ4 has a tendancy to `hang' midway through a burn? |

DJ hangs while writing between 2 sessions...

I take it this is a common problem then? I never encountered any problems using DJ3.5, just since I upgraded to DJ4!
I also presume that DJ doesn't `un-hang' itself either, cos the last time it hung on me, I left it for several hours before deciding it wasn't likely to continue! You can't say I didn't give it a chance!

It hangs for a few seconds, maybe minutes on slooooow systems, but never for hours. Might be a bad image...
