well i would think for saving im hoping its a typo and they ment kb not mb or as you sugested it may be to install part of the game to reduce loading. it prolly was a typo cuz ps3 marvel ultimate alliance says it only requires at least 2mb

in any case i think that they wast so much space because they want to increase memory card sales.

and if ps3 games do end up taking up 256 mb on your ps3 drive then sony can make a bigger hd and be like "Look now you can save more games" remember sony is loosing money on the ps3 just the blu-ray drive itself is about $700 so if they make you buy more storage then they can get their money back that way
