Hey,
I'd already purchased this chip before I saw this forum and viewed the thread on how this chip is dodgy. Anyways, I installed the chip and booted up but nothing at all happened, the lights on the front of the ps2 came on as normal but nothing came up on the TV. I opened the ps2 up again and realised that the metal heatsink fingers may have been touching some of the points on the modchip pcb. I stuck a bit of tape over the points and turned it back on and this time got to a black screen (with the usual white horizontal interference lines flashing across the screen) but no browser came up. Is my chip stuffed or am I missing something obvious? I've uninstalled the chip now and fortunately the ps2 works fine. Thanks heaps for any help you guys can give! Jim |

possibly fried the chip - or it was not soldered fully in - i.e. dry joints.
