Tuning dvd drive

Hi there,

I have a xbox for about a year now. But I use a different brand of dvd-r. Therefor I had to tune de dvd drive. But when I tune the dvd drive to far the xbox lights are flashing red/green/ Is this a protection for the drive or something. If I don`t tune the drive the xbox won`t read the dvd but if I tune the drive a little the games will work accept the games that gave a lot of files like pirates of the carabien. ( more then 10.000 files). Because the files are so small the xbox has problems reading them on a high speed. Is there any way to solf this problem without changing the brand of my dvd-r disc?

I'd say if you turned the potentiometer more than a quarter, you almost gaurantee a busted dvd. It is very sensitive. It's way safer if you just change media. You should only turn it by 1/16 each time you test. Also just to note, that if the media can be read with some games, and not the other, adjustments won't make too much of an impact on it because the dvd-rom has a crappy laser. Turning only make a better crappy laser.

Btw, if it flashes red/green, it means you turned it so far that it won't read anything. Could even perminately mess up the laser. There arent any protections like that ib the xbox.
