cd righter or cd rom wont respond

i have this vcd and i want to play it and / or back it up but every time i put it in the cd righter or cd-rom the lights start flashing like normal and then the cd wont load up! All the l,ights go out and the cd-rom / righter acts as if there is nothing in the drive(windows says the same).

I have a 50x cd-rom(dont know make), a mitsumi 4084te 4/4/24 cd righter and my o.s.=win Me.
the drives work for all other cds.! Reply if u can!!!

Try it in other cdrom/writers on someone elses computer. Also, if it is a copy, and it was made by drag'n'drop through windows explorer, it was burned with packet writing software, and the session may not have been closed.
