but:
I am just scanning the new Sims2.exe from the MONEY DVD Release, and it says protected with SafeDisc.
Didnt the older PiD told me that it was allready cracked?

the new version 6.0 got some checks to validate if safedisc has been cracked or not.

i know... lots of ppl want it asap but our goal is to release v6.0 'with lots of new detections and also as bugfree as it can be'.
we want all users to say 'PiD rocks and we don´t need another protection scanner'

soon i think i´ll upload some new pictures of the redesigned gui and much more new features + detections.

I have a question about a certain archive. In one of my games there's a file with the extension of .arc. I tried everything I could think of to extract the contents without any success. I tried winzip's add-ons and other extraction softwares. Through my playing with this file for the last week, I have concluded that it is not an .arc file and if it is then there's something wrong with it. Would you suggest an approach to this issue, to give me an idea on how to handle this problem? I sure would appreciate it.

I think you're right about the download problem being on my end. I'm going to have to take a look at my security settings and see if that's the issue.

Mac, that question has nothing to do with PiD, and therefore this thread. Better open a new thread in the Software Forum before cdkiller deletes your post

Anyways, never tried opening Arc files myself, and nor do I know much about them. Just done a quick search on google, and it appears WinACE might be able to open them. Hope that helps!

I've got a little Idea but maybe it doesn't work.
If U created a .dll file for the .exe file.
In the .exe file, include U the .dll file.
the .dll file is written in anotother program language. like C# (Microsoft) or C++ (Borland)
and the .exe program in that program language U are doing right now. And the .dll is the open file manager.

But maybe it's 2 problems with that.
Hard to compile. And easy to others to dissamble.
or I don't know.

Maybe that should solve my problems.
I realy should test it in Windows 2003. But I've don't have it.

I'm just saying. Maybe I'm not the only one with that problem. And it should be a program for every OS to enjoy. But U do what U fealing to do becuase it should be alot of work if U rewrite it. But I don't know.
And it is just the open message box. so it isn't a big deal for right know. the Longhorn is gonna be reales in 2005 or somthing. Is pleant of bug should be fixed in the Longhorn and it's planty of time for U to see if the problems reamains..

- added 21 different CD-Check Strings to scan for (Game CD not in drive, please insert the original, disk not found, Cannot locate CD-ROM ...)
- rewritten CD-Check detection (much better now)
- detects possible CD-Checks (GetVolumeInformationA & GetDriveTypeA)
- check if safedisc / securom protected exe is already cracked
- Safedisc V1 detection
- removed scanning for GetDriveTypeA, GetLogicalDriveStringsA and MessageBoxA cause it can be in every executable

version 1.1 will follow next week and includes checks if a safedisc protected game was already unwrapped or not.
