Silver Band Disconnected

Ahh crap. Just when I've solved my Backup problem, I manage to screw something else up lol. Well, while I was re-screwing on my CD Cover after my laser azimuth adjustment, my 4 year old cousin tugged a little too hard on the PS2 top cover, causing the silver band to pull out from the main board/case. What's the best way to re-attach this band? And please don't say it's impossible...

EDIT: Forgot to mention my PS2 is a v7

Yep, the band is in no way damaged, it's just out of its port. How can I get back into the main board and plug it in?

I believe one end just plugs in. The other end has to be soldered. That is all I know. A mod installer here will be able to help you more than what I have provided.

Yup. Just stuff it back in there.

(That's what the girl at the picnic said!)

What's the best way to remove the Disc Drive to access the main board? Right now I don't see anything to unscrew and I don't wanna pull too hard or anything.

lay the PS2 top-down, remove the power-Part(4 screws) and the shielding( lotsa tiny screws ).

Then unplug the flat cables, most you just pull out, for one you have to open the brown top of the connector.
Then use a screwdriver and remove the Drive by carefull bending the metall from the plastic-noses. After that also the upper shielding is loose.

For reconnecting the flat cables its best to use small, flatt pliers, so you dont bend them.

Whoa, that's a little more complicated than I thought it would be lol. Ah well, thanks for the disassembly instructions, they're surprisingly hard to find online.

well, here is a small one

You still have to unplug the cables and remove the Drive to get access to the other side of the Board.

Its not as hard as it may initially seem.

If you have one of those little "mirrors on a stick" that are common for peeking around inside of stuff like car engines or TV's...

You can see where it goes and plug it back in without disassembling much of anything.

But, honestly you should just take the unit out of the case.

Most of us have done it so many times now that it's become almost routing.
