xenosaga question

first of all i imported the game xenosaga from america (i live in europe and have a PAL ps2) and tried to play it with my PnP Key+ and an action replay 2. but it didnt work, so what shall i do??? i read some tutorials and also the noob guide but i didnt find an answer to my question. the things i know are: i cant play import originals with a no solder mod,and that there is a special process to play ps2 dvd backups,(DVD-R backup games must be booted by a special process involving an original DVD game with a higher TOC than the backup you are booting. As many games exceed 4.3GB, this becomes the fine art of decimal places!)how to understand this?? do i need a game with a higher TOC than xenosaga?? and what game would that be, ffX?? and how does this process work?? my ps2 is v5 or v6 actualy i dont realy know. so it should read dvd+r, am i right?? in a few words, i wanna play xenosaga (ntsc) on a PAL ps2 with a no solder mod!! would be very cool if anybody could answer all this questions!!!!

No, PAL and NTSC are different video modes, the newer tv's offer an option to switch between the two.

You are right in your prediction of the v6/v7 being able to read +R so you should be fine there. You cannot play imports on No Solder mods / USB mods so you may wish to try a new chip. You can try swapping the DVD+R backup with the disc using a larger TOC. The games you could try are:

4.37GB - PAL - Devil May Cry
4.37GB - JAP - Devil May Cry
4.37GB - NTSC - Devil May Cry
4.37GB - NTSC - TimeSplitters 2
4.37GB - PAL - Grand Theft Auto 3
4.37GB - PAL - Time Crisis 2
4.36GB - NTSC - Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance
4.36GB - PAL - PSM Special Edition Player's Guide: PS2 Greatest Hits Vol. 3
4.35GB - PAL - Dead or Alive 2
4.35GB - PAL - Disney's Jungle Book Groove Party
4.35GB - NTSC - DOA 2 Hardcore
4.34GB - NTSC - GTA Vice City
4.34GB - NTSC - State of Emergency
4.34GB - PAL - State of Emergency
4.33GB - NTSC - Soul Reaver 2
4.32GB - NTSC - Silent Hill 2
4.31GB - PAL - Dragon Ball Z Budokai
4.31GB - NTSC - Eternal Ring
4.31GB - PAL - 7 Blades
4.30GB - NTSC - Metal Gear Solid 2

Hope this helps...

I picked this up on a website somewhere. You could also search the forum using the search button but here goes:

1. create a new entry in the code list and call this game code "DVD-R"
2. create an empty code entry in this "DVD-R" game code and call this entry "dummy-code"
3. Boot the ps2 with the AR2, then swap (just regular eject) the AR2 disc with a DVD original which the toc is larger then the toc of the DVDR you trying to boot and wait 20 sec.
4. chose AR codes from the main menu and turn on or off this "dummy-code" before you start the game .
5. chose start game-with codes and press X then it says updating code list and in this exact time press the eject for 2 sec for open the tray with the r-mod chip and swap the original DVD with the DVD-r.

Hope this helps...
