Swat 4
Original Poster: Grumpy
Post Date: 06-04-2005 1) Copy all contents from CD1 to an temp folder. 2) Copy all contents from CD2 to the same temp folder, dont overwrite any files. 3) Open SWAT 4.msi with Orca. Go to Media and change all Swat4_2 strings to Swat4_1. 4) Burn all files from temp folder to a DVD, using Nero. Useing the label 'SWAT4_1'.

SWAT4 prepatched DVD

- WinRAR or WinZIP or some compression program which will display the size of the files inside compressed archive in bytes (should be most of them but ).- CabARC (This is a must for this task). As mentioned in my post (#176) - Image creation program (MagicISO for example, could come in handy). - Image emulation software (OPTIONAL: Alcohol 120% for example if you do not like to burn it up first, but it is a must to have an image creation program for this). - Orca (Another program that is also a must if you want to verify and edit some info). - Some knowledge of command prompt (Desirable, makes it a little easier )- Decent text editing program. (UltraEdit-32 will do it very nicely). Known issues: - After installation, you will need to close the autorun and start it from the desktop or the location of where it was installed, step 12 might be the answer. Author's notes: - The filelist cannot be included because it is too long to put it on the forum, if someone can help me out with hosting it, I would be happy or otherwise pm me and I'll try and get it sent to. I have tried compressing it and so far without any luck getting it down to 64kb. - This has not been tested with burning it on an actual disk, all the task has been done on Alcohol 120% to prevent large amount of coasters, etc. You are therefore forewarned about actually burning it. I personally suggest you try it out without burning and see if that works, if it does, then burn it. - You can also name that list of files' file into whatever you want, so long as you put in the correct name when creating the archive. (i.e. If you named that file to blah.txt for example, instead of @filelist.txt for step 10 you can have @blah.txt. As long as you have that text file in that new folder). - If you have a problem with any part of this no-cd patching process, PM me and I'll try to solve it if possible, otherwise, I would be glad to hear any success or any other shortcuts .Method: 1. Find out the size of your no-cd patch in bytes and note it down, This can be done by checking the properties of the no-cd patch (Right click| Click on Properties), also note down the version (under the "Version" tab if there is any). 2. Open Data1.cab file and look for "_EE367B04E2E84C73A84DD289D7994886", check to see if the length is 2,265,088 AND/OR; Open the SWAT 4.msi file with Orca, go to the section named "File" and find "Swat4.exe" file, you can use the find function under Edit|Find. If this filename is different (unlikely). Find it via the size rather than the name. 3. Once verified, you will then need to extract Data1.cab into a temporary location, copy the Data1.cab and then run cabarc (under command console) to decompress and put this listing into a file (command: "cabarc x Data1.cab * > filelist.txt") 4. Open command console and rename the no-cd patched executable into this name "_EE367B04E2E84C73A84DD289D7994886" (command: "rename Swat4.exe _EE367B04E2E84C73A84DD289D7994886"). If under step 2 you have a different filename, you will need to put in the correct one rather than this. 5. Copy that file into the location of the extracted Data1.cab overwriting the original file. 6. Use ultraedit32 or some decent text editing program (Notepad will be very slow in replacing the lines) to open the filelist.txt file that was being placed in where Data1.cab was extracted and placed. 7. Get rid of the first few lines until you get the random numbers section on top, once done, pipe "Extracting.." into replace function of that program and leave the replace with section blank. Remember, you will only need something like: swt4_mn_tx_7162010.pdf _53F6EB2023F3490B954077112901492 ..*etc* 8. Save the file, get rid of any backups if your text editor program did create it. 9. Rename the Data1.cab to something else (eg. Data1b.cab) 10. Use cabarc to recompress the files from the list (command: cabarc n Data1.cab @filelist.txt). Note: If your cabarc does "chuck a spaz" with compression, etc, you might need to restart. I had a problem with this at one stage but then I hopped onto another computer (I was in computer lab). 12. (Optional, probably can help solve the immediate opening after installation.) Open SWAT 4.msi file with Orca and go back to the section called "File" and search for the executable (steps mentioned in step 2). Edit the size column for that executable to your noted no-cd version size, do not include semicolons. If there was a version available, double check it with the one in the msi, edit if necessary, if not, leave the area blank. 13. Save it and make an image, mount it, burn it, etc. It is recommended that you do test it out without burning to cd to see if it actually works.
