Ps2 50003SS laser dieing

Am really not impressed with this machine. Bought it September 2003. Stuck in a M2 1.33b Pro which despite a few sulks has proved to be a pretty reliable chip. Now the laser is starting to play up on me. Has got picky about what dvd-r's it will and won't load up. Have tried the usual cleaning disc but doesn't make any difference. All of them are Ritek G4 dvd-r and work fine on my mates Version 7 with M2 1.31.

As this console is meant to support dvd-r and -rw 10 months of average use (probably averages out to less than an hour a day) really ain't that good.

As it works okay with originals am intending to remove the chip and sell on second hand but i'm after sum advice on what to get next.

Have found somewhere selling brand new version 7's still or can go for a version 10 and probably get the same problems as with my current version 9 in 9 months time.

Also am lookin at fittin a matrix infinity chip or M2 v2. R these any good?

Thanx an regards

I’ve already had to adjust a few of these V9’s. You can probably tweak’er up for another 9 months or more. Also check two white cogs. POTS on these are set very high, +1400 ohms, drop em' down around to 1200-1100 or lower

I'd go with V7 + Matrix Infinity (for the extra features)
