NEO 2.2 install Problems - 2 screws leftover
After fitting a neo key to my kids' PS2 just before chrimbo I thought I'd go the whole hog and fit an internal neo 2.2 in their cousins machine (3003 v4)
However, after fitting 4 chips and none working can anyone advise the following: 1. Has anyone successfully programmed a c12508a chip using elvis programmer.-Please mail me if you have. 2. I have 2 bronze coloured (largish) screws leftover. They're not the ones from the fan housing. Can anyone tell me where to put these(in a polite way). 3.Should I cut 3 wires to see if the 5 wire setup will work. After the original fitting failing on the dvd draw not opening I removed excess solder between points 5 + 6 it then opened and the X button caused the drawer to open too. ps I've seen posts saying elvis cant program this hex but the manufacturers claim it is possible providing you obtain the calibration figures for the blank then put this figure into the hex .I've seen 1 post(somewhere) of someone claiming to have done but dont have the details now. Thanks in advance steve |

I don't know anything about the neo 2.2 and elvis, but if you have two of the longer bronze screws left from four units, this is where they go:
one screw will fasten the metal shield to the main board. Look on the back edge of the ps2 next to the heat sink. don't worry about taking the units apart to put the screw back in. The small precision screws do a good enough job. |

Steve,
i have a 30003R model PS2 and successfully installed a NEO2.2 chip using the ACTION REPLAY 2v2 boot up cd. go to WWW.KANECTION.CO.UK for all diagrams if you follow the strip down , installation and rebuild procedure very carefully and without kids about you should be able to do this successfully. this is the only time ive done it and i did it first go ( i Know, bully for me )....just take your time and hey presto it works ! |

I bought a programmed chip and it worked fine. So I know it was the programming of the blank chip which wasnt working. BTW if you need to do any more the chips are much cheaper at www.maxking.com.
If anyone reading this knows how to program a c12508a using elvis I would be grateful if you could tell me how |
