grooved dvdr
hi all,
just had my ps2 eat a backup of vice city, put it in to play and it wouldn,t work so took it out and now its got like a circular scratch about 20mm from the centre. anyone come across this before or know why it happened. it was a apple dvdr, on a messiah ps2 v4 copied with pioneer a03 1.68 cheers murdie

Try using car polish (not wax) to polish your disc. That takes most scratches out for me.

The Sony argo is referring to is the DRU-500A....
Just out of curiousity, the scratch on your disc was caused by your PS2, correct? It sounds like something may have come loose inside your PS2... How do you have the PS2 sitting... Is it vertical or horizontal....?

This was a common problem with v1 and v2 PS2's. The drive doesnt completely lift the cd off the tray causing a circular scrape on the disc. best advise is to play the console in vertical position.

yea, the ps2 did cause the scratch,
will it get worse do u know? or is this just a 1 off. didnt save the dvdr just wrote off another one (good job it was a backup). u reckon the a03 no good then, it cost me 500 knicker so i aint scrapping it yet. by the way those datasafe riteks(same dye as traxdata) work sweet. cheers all murdie
