Transformers 2 - Revenge Of The Fallen crashes

I can't get this game to run using either the crack or the original executable and disc. The game crashes as soon as it is launched. The Activision technical support website is absolutely no help with this problem. I suspect that the game may be trying to use an instruction set which my CPU does not have. Does anyone know if the game requires SSSE3 (NOT SSE3) or SSE4.1 for Intel CPU's? I can't imagine that it would since AMD cpu's lack these instruction sets, but that is the only thing I can think of which would cause the game to crash so repeatedly and immediately upon launch on my PC since the game's system requirements say a Core 2 Duo CPU is the minimum, and mine is a Pentium D. My PC meets the other requirements for the game.
