Is playing copied game online consider illegal?

I heard that playin copied games online with dreamcast taht u may get caught and fine??!?!? Is it true??

how the hell would they ever know you have a backup think of it the law states that you are able to legally own one backup copy of every original cd disc you own
if anyone says anything which they won't you just say that you have a little brother that is too young to understand how not to scratch a cd so that is why you use backups to preserve the integrity of the original.
