hmmm executables disguised as other file extensions.

These look dodgy, people if you download scan them both with your AV and online AV (like at www.trend.com or similar)

Just seems too dodgy

Executables for mods is always bad.


1. They can have a virii attached to them, even if you didnt know it yourself.

2. People are dubious with executables, and wouldnt touch them.


To minimize the possibility of virii spreading, I informed people of what to do.

And no use getting on your high horse, I know ASM and have done Trainers etc, which means nothing at the end of the day.

The simple fact is you dont know me and I dont know you, neither does others, so you could or could not be someone who is spreading virii intentionally or unintentionally.

Also, using an archiver software like ZIP or RAR is not only useful because it makes the installation package smaller and safe against the usual virii that cannot infect executables inside archives but it also gives you the possibility to check the integrity of the archive at once after the download.

How irritating it is when A) you get stuff installed but it is damaged and it doesn't work (properly) or B) you start the installation and it chokes with a weird error message that, after some searching on the Net, boils down to a damaged installation package.

(Yes, archives are harder to use for the average user. Which is why 1) Windows XP has built-in ZIP support and 2) WinRAR is one of the first softwares to be installed on a Windows PC. )

Thanx to inform me about this, but what kind of extensions should i use instead of ZIP or RAR? cuz most of my DATA on my PC are compressed with'em.

I'm saying that ZIP and RAR is good, unlike a naked EXE... Why not compress your EXE's (installation packages) with ZIP or RAR and then upload them...?

I completely understand u, but if u see my installation method u'll understand
that I put a mod trailer while installation, it's an autorun exe by MMB program.

I'll do what u suggested, but do u want me to rollback my installation above and upload a new one? and by the way i realy use rar program to make exe installers.

Here is a problem why installers arent good


1. People hate downloading them and are wary of them

2. Some AV's wont allow it

3. Game folders can be different than yours, not everyone uses the default install folder, so data wont go where its supposed to go.

Another issue :
Is it illegal to make mods and upload'em to the internet without informing a company of a game?

generally no,any modification that requires modification to the executable (ie: needs cracked exe or whatever) is illegal and breaches the EULA
if the mod is like a data file, and you use a loader to inject a dll or code etc, then its questionable really, but as a general rule of thumb : do not modify exe's permanently

if you distribute modded executables without permission, then its definately illegal...

I see.
well my exe's in this page are instalers, they contain INI's extensions ONLY,
also: these exe's contain trailers about mods & the installation path,
they DON't contain modded cracks.
