Tages v5.5 (or higher) protected !
Ive just added the latest 1.2 patch to my Darkstar One install and the thing wont work off my image file now.
Ran the latest copy of Prot_ID (very nice job I must say and it works perfect on Win XP Pro SP2, tried it on my longhorn machine, it crashes, then again so does just about anything i run on longhorn and on 64), it generated this result Scanning -> C:\Program Files\Darkstar One\DarkStarOne.exe File Type : Exe, Size : 4366336 (042A000h) Bytes [!] Tages v5.5 (or higher) protected ! [!] protection level: Tages BASIC - Scan Took : 0.328 Seconds Anyone have any ideas on how to either work round this seeing as the protection changed from VOB to this? |

Now if this were true it would be amazing!
Developers can now change the type of protection that is on your original pressed cd with an upgrade patch. |

The printed output from version 1 told me I had VOB prot or whatever it is, after installing the patch it now tells me Its Tages, or are you insinuating I cant read. The output using version 5.2 of protection ID tells me this is the protection in place now. So it might be advantageous to all concerned if instead of looking down your nose at me because im new to this forum and actually come out with some form of useful information we can all share.
Or is the purpose of this forum to satisfy Geek ego and flame anyone that has a genuine question. |

He didnt flame you.
But it is unlikely they would change a protection to read another protection on the media. It just wouldnt work. Its a possibility that the PiD has miscorrectly read the updated VOB Protect. And it looked similar to Tages. |

It seemed strange to me, but I just put in the post what I saw. The original question still stands, does anyone have any ideas on how to get round this form of protection?

From my observation of your situation you must have started with a German copy which has ProtectDISC v6 protection and then, somehow, applied an English upgrade patch which does have Tages protection.
