Clueless

I have lost my Empire Earth game, yet it is still installed and I still have the case with the cd key. I have tried downloading a cd-key from MegaGames but I guess I am too stupid to make it work -.- . I was reading something like any noob would and it said I have to replace the file, does this mean that I have to replace the v2 empire earth crack with the EE already on? Since I have no idea what I am doing and I can't re-install the game because I have lost the CD, I would like to ask someone here that actually knows what they are talking about, for I am (cough for irony) clueless.
