Socom 3 online

Hi
ive got the latest slimline uk/pal Playstation 2 and im after getting usa Socom III to play online if i buy usa Socom III (not a copy) would i be able to get my uk ps2 running online ?
I know id need a chip or slide card to get the game to load being a different region to my ps2 but what would i actually need to get the game running online ?
