How Do I Patch a Selfbooting NBA2k1 CDr Copy???

I downloaded the Echelon patch and followed all the instructions but my Dc still reads my output as an Audio CD. I'm using a Ricoh Mp7083A and CDrwin. I'm also using Maxell CDs to write to. Please tell me what I did wrong. Thanks
