PPF files: How the heck does one apply them?

PPF-O-Matic? That particular software wants: 1) The PPF file, and
2) a *BIN* file to go with it. Take Gunbird2 and the recently
released trainer. The .NFO file tells you it wants the original "BIN"
file released by Echelon. There are two problems, though. First,
Echelon never released a "BIN" file for this game (they released a
CDI, of course). Second, after having looked around for a good
chunk of time, I have not been able to find anything to convert an
image file in X format to CDRWin's BIN format. I can convert it to
ISO or NGR, and that's about it.

What exactly does PPF-O-Matic want? I tend to think that if the
instructions take certain things for granted (such as the user being
able to get a BIN rendition of a game that was only ever released as
a CDI), then accomplishing said things must be fairly straightforward.
Since this has not been the case, I am asking here. Anyone know?
