Post Are there any reviews/comparisin charts yet for the solderless DMS4 vs other chips?

Pretty much what the topic says, im still going to get the Infinity installed by Norcalmods (Yes I WILL mod it someday soon....) but I want to know about this chip in case my current PS2 ever dies on me. And some of the biggest issues most people with modchips ask like online play, HDD support, FFXI support, NTSC-PAL switching, and if it actually works.

I tried googling for it but all I found were websites that sold it.

Although I admit, the price of the chip is almost as expensive as most places charge for chip and install services.

The EZI is nothing more then a DMS4 with clip kit. So any review you find on the DMS4 will apply to the EZI.

I have seen many many people complaining of this chip damaging the chip legs on there PS2 to the point of no repair. The clip kit idea is nothing new. Neoasic developed this tecnology years ago and it never took off simply because they are garbage. Clip kits can come loose and short out your consle, or if installed improperly will result in damage as well. Not to mention the clip kits can bend the chip legs and damage them beyond repair for even the most experienced installer. Nothing replaces a good install with good ol' wire and solder done by a pro.

I would like to see a real report on that EZI chip though. Because most of this is based on people that opened their PS2 for the first time. We all know opened PS2 is not idiot/student proof, and those complaining about it aren't the modchip installers, all they did for now is tell it's not gonna work because they use the same technology as Neoasic, DMS claims otherwise. They base them on facts of reports on troubleshooting forums. On DMS, most people come for troubleshooting anyway. If it's a succesfull install, they won't bother telling that.

seaneyb2003 is an unknown quantity at this point
There actually not badly priced but there is a risk apparently. The pins on the chip can bend or snap off, so im told. Id still prefer a decent normal chip. Well hed on over to the dms site www.dms3.com have details there.

People said the same thing when the first v9, v10 consoles hit the shelfs and started dieing after modding. They blamed everything from installers to chips to idiots because some consoles work fine while others died. People finally realized there was a problem with the console. Same with the DMS chips. Some people have no problems and love the chip but there are just to many people having problems for it to be ignored. I agree people are quick to bash and slow to praise but the number of DMS complaints is just unbelieveable and the list is growing everyday. This clip chip is no different than the other DMS chips so i would stay away

I can only give my own 2nd hand experience with the dms chips. I had a dms3 installed on behalf of my sister and her boyfriend. one i n a version 7 the other in a version 10. The seven died within a day, black screen / green screen no browser ( after disconnecting the power to the dms3 you can reach the browser screen) and the version 10 only read backup media for a week befor e refusing any backed up originals, all i can say is thank god for HD's as it removes the need somewhat for backup discs.

Any one wanna buy a fried v7??
