Playback Problems

Hi,

Not sure where to post this one so please move if needed.

I've just got a dvd writer and have been backing up my movie collection onto some DVD-Rs (Orange Top 8x Bulkpaq) that came with the writer.

However I am experiencing problem with playback on my stand alone DVD player.

All that I have burned (20) work on the computer using PowerDVD, also on my parents Philips DVD player and also on my cheap one I got from ASDA.

However only some (well just one or two) will play on my main Toshiba SD-220E player.

Can anyone think of possible reasons for this?

Cheers

Maybe your Toshiba has problems reading that brand of dvdr. It might just barely be able to read it.

Thumbs up

Yea this is pretty common.. If you use highly reflective media there's a heck of a better chance your toshiba will be able to read it.. Older players especially have trouble with the silverish write-side dvdrs.

We have an older (really older) player out in the living room. It wouldn't read a single thing we threw at it until I started using riteks. It'll read those no prob. So the older lasers weren't prepared for burnable media.

As soon as you run through those cheapies get some good stuff and give it a whirl.. You could even get those single pack dvdrs to test out different brands. They're a little more expensive just because of the packaging.. But once you find one that'll work in all of your players you're set. Shoot for ritek.. Same deal as with Video games.. It's still top quality stuff.
