GTR Problem

I, like many, really didn't want to wait for the game to be released in the US. I got a bootled copy and have tried to get it to work using the cr**k instructions. I have a feeling that since I can't figure out how to disconnect my cd/dvd drives(laptop) it will probably never work. Fine, On the first attempt, I actually was able to input the seral numbers. It was a failed attempt, but ever since, no other attempts asked for the seral to be input. The error message that came up showed the seral number from the first attempt. Where is that coming from since I removed everything from previous attempts. I want to eventually buy the game but worried that since I messed with botleg, it will never work. Any ideas on what is going on?
