Is STEAM worth it on 56K?

I've read different posts on this forum and others and people have mentioned anywhere from 6MB to 50MB of registration files that need to be downloaded the first time you register Half-Life2 over STEAM. Has anyone here tried activation with a 56K connection?

I am waiting for the HL2 retail price to come down before I buy it but I'm still curious about the pain of activation over a dialup connection.

The main reason people are facing a long wait when decrytping the Half-Life 2 files is because of their processor. As far as I'm aware, the files that physically get transferred to your pc when registering on steam is small.

The fact that the Steam server often gets overloaded is another problem why people face a long wait.

Thanks JoyBoy. I was just hoping to hear from someone that has actually used dialup. I have never seen the STEAM interface and I was wondering if it gave you an actual file size before you downloaded any updates/files. Even "small" files can be a pain on dialup.

Well if you are curious you should read this:

The fact that DialUP is slow, it is not the only problem...

I have connected via a 56k modem it took about 4 attempts and about 4hours altogther, I have a 3.06 processor 1024 of ram and a radeon 9600 pro it was worth the time spent but as a helpline person told me they have over complicated the system and did not think about people with dial up, i was told that thousands of people are complaining about not being able to download the last percent of the update that they have been overloaded, the other problem is that nothing happens on the screen while the update is in progress that you cannot tell if its doing anything so most people cancel the update thinking it has locked up, hope this answers some of your concerns.
