Benq DW800A:Update for -Rs

I read that Benq released an update for the DW800A DVD-Burner that enables it to burn -Rs as well (800A just burns +Rs). Because of licence fees for the -R standard they sold it for a small amount, and you got a serial that was quecked online during install. Benq told me they do not sell these updates, does anyone know where I could get one and has anyone any experiences with the update, heard it caused some problems. Or is it possible to upload the new firmware without the serial?
