what are those options for, in the system info on my PS2.... Texture mapping speed and so on you know the ones i mean

They are for ps1 games only. It is supposed to slightly help the graphics.

Grr... damn site. Third time I've tried to post this reply.

The speed thing simply tells the PS2 to either spin the drive at PSX speeds (2x or whatever it was), or at PS2 speeds (32x or whatever it is).

The texture thing allows the PS2, with its 32-bit graphics processor, to smooth the 16-bit textures from the PSX. It can make some games look a little nicer. *shrug*
