Question about mod chips

I am not getting one I have just been wondering this for awhile. If you have a mod chip installed and have to send your PS2 in to get fixed by sony can you take that chip out so you don't get nailed with hefty fixing prices?

If you had a modchip instaled the last thing you would do is send it to Sony. You would find someone else to repair it.

Sony wont even touch your system if you or anyone else has broke the seal and opened it. If you send it to them, and they see that you have been messing around inside, they will mark it void and send it straight back to you un-repaired.

Thats interesting. Usually Sony wont do that. They have always been total D*cks to me when I called them, telling me what I can and cant do with my system. One Tech Rep even told me that hooking up your PS2 to a Non-Sony Television would void your warranty. Go Figure.
