It's nearly over guys!

Looks like it's nearly the end for nocd cracks. All these new protections seem to have beaten the crackers. I know you're all going to say that protections can be beaten, but until now most PC CD protection has been about protecting the main EXE, but now cd checks are being placed all through the game code, the crackers have to play through the whole title to check if their fix works, and they just don't have the time to do that. Soon, it will be too much hassle playing a backup, and we're just going to have our originals in the drive, for fear of some 'Don't play copies' screen popping up. It's already happened with XIII, a game I bought last Friday, yet can't play because of the protection. None of the cracks seem to work. Also, cracks on sites like Spielebrennen and Gamefix have vanished due to legal reasons, so I'm sure this will soon spread to this site and Megagames, though I hope I am wrong, as this site has been superbly maintained over the years, and has been of tremendous help to me and I'm sure many other PC owners.

The XIII crack works.

Tages has been beaten. However seams that Tages protection dosen't encrypt the file. Like it dose with SafeDisc, and SecuROM.

Still not think it's over. And not everyone it's going to use Tages. Ubi-Soft seams to have a deal with tages, but EA still have SafeDisc.

It is far from over, don't believe in everything that the copy protection companies say like "our new protection is uncrackable" which is bull****..none "major protection" have stayed uncracked so far.

Messing around with "standard" CD-rom format seems to be the latest fashion= customer pissed when its not working in his/her
Standard cd-drive= cd returned to shop= company loses $

Oh, and some blacklisting of legal programs of course, yet another pointless move.

Shall I continue...?

Concerning spellforce, that goes to prove my point. I'm sure the Setup can be fixed, but would probably need some BIN file to replace it, if indeed if ever did get released. Maybe backups will only be available to guys with Tech know how. Whatever, the situation has certainly changed in the last few weeks. I can't wait dor the GCW update, to see if Snooker03 and Trackmania have cracks, as neither of the ones I have work correctly.

There were big problems when Safedisk 2 emerged, as well as Securom New. They can now be cracked in seconds. Give crackers time to adapt to the new code, it happens all the time.

@MasterSteVe:
contact the retail or tech support!

The setup file dosen't have 700 MB without doing anything. Installshield the most popular installation GUI, always create a temp folder. Wich unpack the files it need then run the setup. If you still have the setup open or are quick enough, you might find SecuROM protected files there. But like other said, it's been cracked by FLT. And I don't think it will be a setup crack. Think the fix is only for FLT releas.

Still contact the tech support if you can't install the game from your ORIGNAL CD!

sure the file SpellForce-Setup.exe has 700 mb look it and you see it and there is not way to crack this file or on cd i think for a crack you must make a backup on hardisk and then an installer crack this file or something but it dont give another way

Sure that setup.exe can be cracked. The problem is that it's far easier to extract the contents (maybe using krondike's trick) and writing your own installer, so that's what the warez groups seems to do. Sure they can crack the setup.exe if they invest enough time, but why would they if it's easier not to ? The problem is then that the legal users are left in the cold. This is just a perverse consequence of the copy protection, but do keep in mind that the publishers are against ANY crack, and they don't care if you bought the game or not, to them we're ALL pirates. Nice way to treat your customers, huh ?

Anyway if you can't install your legal copy because of the sh*tty copy protection, send emails, use the phone, whatever, but try to make your voice heard with the publisher. This might not solve the current problem, but it might help you avoid this problem with the NEXT game. If they can't or won't help you, just return it. It will be out on budget soon, and chances are it won't be copy protected anymore. So you can then finally play it AND you're sending a signal to those morons with their dumb copy protections. I've almost never seen a copy protection work for more than a few weeks max, and most are cracked before they even hit the market. And still they invest millions in copy protections that only inconvenience their customers. Vote with your wallet.
