do you know if a chipped 39006 (from thailand) will work in the uk?
voltage different (210-220), also needs a UK power supply adaptor (250 V, 2.5 A, 5 amp fuse), will i need a drop-down converter? pal, ntsc compatability? many thanks.... |

Hey Chuck, I understand you have answered that question on another forum but people come here for answers for their questions. I just think that sending them to another forums is just a touch in bad taste. Would it be to much of you to copy and paste your answer here in these forums since you moderate them too?

Yes - 39006 is NTSC-J but the no swap chip will deal with PAL games OK. The voltage will be fine - no problems with UK 230/240v. I have a 39006 right here with Messiah2 v1.30 straight off the UK mains for nearly a year now. The PS2 plays PAL DVD movies for whatever region Thailand / Hong Kong is. So to play UK or US movies will require the Hong Kong version of ARMax or the DMS3 v2 chip UPDATE ON PS2NEWZ POST: Thailand/Hong Kong are Region 3.
