I'm not really sure I buy the statement that was quoted in that article saying ATI makes much better GPUs than NVidia.

Yeah,

Nvidia makes a really nice graphics chip and so does ATI IMO they are both good!! but the specs sound great, I can't wait to see the visuals!!!!!!!!!

IMO specs dont really mean that much for a machine that's supposed to be 2 years away. More importantly is how well the programmers use it too.

I remember all the hype for Xbox saying it was so powerful and similar to a PC that all the great PC games would be converted to Xbox very quickly. Well we've gotten a few PC games and still waiting after 2 years for the rest. Evidently it's not quite that easy for the programmers.

Yep,

I also remember when all the programers griped on how hard the PS2 was to program and now they say the say the opposite.

I imagine that the same will be said with the XBox as well. Either way the next consoles are sure to be awesome!! and will likely be like watching the simpsons or cartoon no jaggies at all :-)

hahaha I'm not so sure about that since the supposed experts said the same thing about Xbox and PS2 before they were available and they aren't quite that good.

P.S. The thought of another crappy Simpsons game scares me.

I think ATI is was better than NVIDIA. I have had so many problems when building computer for people who want an NVIDIA card. They call a week later saying the drivers are screwed up, or their frame rates blow ect ect. Stick a nice ATI Radeon in there, and I don’t see them again until they want more RAM or HDD space.

I was kinda disappointed when I was told the XBox would be running an NVIDIA card. I’ve been running ATI’s card for the most part for about 6 years now and never once had any problems with them as I see with NVIDIA’s

This computer I’m on now has an ATI Radeon 7500 AIW and I’ve been running for about 2 years, and I get better frame rates than my buddy Scott who has NVIDIA’s GeForce4 Ti in all games we have ran tried. All and all I kinda like ATI over NVIDIA.

That's funny. I have had the exact same experience reversed!
I think the current top shelf ATI cards have good hardware but bad drivers! I always recommend Nvidia because of that. If only 3DFX was still around....

P.S. I'm supposed to get a Geforce Ti4200 tomorrow too.

hehehe I wouldn't let that thing with in 100 feet of my front door let-o-lone my computer.

LOL I’m sorry, I just can’t miss an opportunity to bust on NVIDIA every chance I get.

Yeah I'll have to see how it goes with the drivers on it. Since I'm not into all those new-fangled games I've been using a Geforce2 for awhile so it will hopefully be a big improvement (if it works right . )

Dont waste your money, that card sucks big time,

I`ve sold 3 seperate systems with that card in them, all 3 came back. I had to redo the whole system again, the drivers keep screwing up the O/S ..

Yes I definately have mixed emotions now that I've got it. I had already been warned that the plain Nvidia drivers sucked so loaded a tweaked driver from someone else.

All of the textures are definately better looking but I have noticed moving objects do a slight stutter every 20 secs or so. This isn't horribly bad but just enough to be noticeable when you are shooting at a moving target or something and it pauses the picture for just a fraction of a sec like it's lagging or something.

The more I think about it I seem to remember having problems getting the previous card working right too and eventually used a tweaked driver on that to fix it. At this point I can't really say the $100 was well spent since it looks a little bit better but is not as smooth as the old one.

One of the major factors in getting this card was the fact that someone told me you can also overclock the crap out of it but that's not gonna happen until it's working flawlessly.
