HI,
Have a look a www.playstationmods.com they are the ones who have designed the modchip and give you a full spec on what the NEO4 can do. You wont need a Boot disc to play your backups if you have a NEO4 installed. And yes you can use either a game shark, action replay2 or REGION X as a Boot CD Cheers Dal |

Hi,
The REGION X can boot your backups aswell as playing multi-region DVDs (need a modchip aswell) As far as i know you cant use a PS2 memory card for PS1 games. The NEO4 will not require a Boot Cd to play backups, just pop the backup in and off it goes. Dal |

NEO5 I suppose. But seriously, the problem to be overcome is the mod-chip detection trend. Perhaps people should refrain from buying games with mod-chip protection or they should lobby for packaging to show where mod-chip protection has been put into the software. After all mod-chips were invented so that people could legitimately back up their originals? Weren't they?

Dal,
I could be wrong on this, but as far as I know, the PS2 memory card is not compatible with the PS1 save blocks, so you must have a PS1 memory card to save your PS1 games. I would also like to raise a question, i can use the expansion bay in the PS2 to connect a HDD. What could I gain by connection a HDD to my PS2? At least, could I use the HDD as a PS1/2 memory card emulator? P.S.: Someone... please... give me some hints on ripping DOA2 to a CD!!! |

Hi,
The PS2 memory management, uses K not blocks like the PS1. This way it only takes space off the memory card that it needs at a certain point. PS1 games take the amount of blocks it needs usually from the first time you save. If your going to play PS1 games on your PS2 then you will need a PS1 memory card. As for the HDD, they are shipping a few thousand units out for trial in Japan very soon, i understand that you will be able to download games off the net straight onto your HDD, there really is not much info out on them yet. Cheers Dal |
