Raven Shield NO-CD

Hey I intstalled as per the instructions and it still asks me for my cd? Any help would be nice.
This is what I did just to let you all now maybe I did do something wrong.

I downloaded no-cd patch
UNzipped it to temp dir
replaced old exe with new one
copyed the patcher to the system folder in the ravenshield folder
ran patcher(it said it did its job)
and nothing still asks for CD?

like I said maybe I did do something wrong but if I didn't then the NO-CD patch doesn't work

G'day DarknightCVS,

It may very well be the version of the game, patch update, crack that you are using.

i.e. If you've installed from your original copies (being version 1.0) & applied the version 1.1 crack well it wont work of course. Not saying you've done this, however in most cases this is the reason it may still ask for the CD.

On the basis you have a US,UK version of the game :

Do as follows :

1. Fresh install of Rainbow 6 Ravenshield. (Full Install Option)

2. Save a copy of the core.dll & RavenShield.exe that are in your system folder. I like to make another Folder called original exe & place them in this. The purpose of this is for any future updates should they have a patcher bug.

2. Grab the Latest Patch being Version 1.1 & apply it.

3. Grab the Raven Shield v1.1 [ENGLISH] No-CD Patch over here & open it with winrar.

Inside is a RavenShield.exe & a cdcheck11_patch.exe - extract / drag these 2 files into your Ravenshield>system folder. You should get a "would you like to replace your current Ravenshield.exe"....of course click yes.....then execute (double click) the cdcheck11_.exe. This will patch the core.dll file which holds the extra cd check protection of the game.

The other file in the crack you've downloaded "cdkey11_patch.exe" is not required if your simply playing single player. In fact provided you own your original copy.....you wont need this, because you'll have your own original CD Key should you wish to play Multiplayer.

4. Run the Ravenshield shortcut on your desktop & you should be right to go.

Hope that helps you........

well thanks for taking the time to type all that out for me. Just for kicks I did a full new uninstall and then upgraded to v1.1 then I downloaded the no-cd hack once again. And once again installed per your insturctions. Still asking me for the CD there are two other files that come in the zipped folder maybe I have to do something with these? the two extra files are
file_id.diz
MSInfo.doc

and there was no cdkey11_patch just cdcheck11_patch.

has anyone got this to work maybe it is in fact broken then again maybe I am in fact an idoit! LOL

I can't answer the idiot bit ...... but if you followed the above it should work .... it does for me & I'm sure many others.....

Those other 2 files you mentioned you dont need - just open them with notepad or wordpad & the group that cracked the files usually give you instructions on what to do / who they are etc........

Just out of interest - Did you select a "Full Install" at the beginning when you reinstalled the game. The game gives you 2 options 1: Full Install 2: Minimum install.

You must always select Full Install (if your using a No CD Fix) otherwise in most cases ( & for this game) the videos are left on the CD. So when you go to start the game & it goes to run its intro, it will ask for the CD because you did not select full install.

I got a funny feeling you may have selected minimum install.....

What a Bummer dude, glad it works for you, yeah I always use full install. As to the idiot thing I have no clue, crazy thing I do alot a work with computers and programming in C you would think if it worked I would be able to get it to work. But since you said it worked for you then god damnit I must be doing something silly. Maybe I will try a fresh install one more time. Thanks for the help though.

well...... bummer..... I can't think in the short term why your having difficulties with it working if you followed the above.....

The regulars here Rince, cdkiller or Bounty etc.... may be able to shed some light on this & offer any further suggestions... I can feel Rincewind already typing "Try Alcohol 120% & play off the image"....

Before you do the fresh install again.... make sure you delete any remnants of the game such as the folder etc... if its left behind after you delete it.....

If I think of something else I'll post back otherwise, make sure you post back if you've worked out the solution...for others to know as well..

Till its fixed at least you can still play the game with your originals - so all is not lost just yet..... Is it the US Version you have...?

Well you certainly save me some time here Alcohol120% should be perfectly capable of doing this, it's handy to have an extra way to fix things when the cracks don't work, and it certainly wouldn't hurt to try.... If nothing else you can make a 1:1 copy with any cd authoring program (even Nero) and it will work with the fixed exe, so you can safely put away the original. Now I didn't read it anywhere, but did the game work with just the fixed exe and a backup or the original in the drive ?
