play dvd

I know a guy who says that he can build in a chip into my dreamcast so I can play dvd movies. Does this chip really exist? And if it exist where can I buy it and what is it`s name?

i don't think the dreamcast drive is able to read DVDs.
if so, why would sega have developed the GD, as DVD burners were VERY uncommon years ago?

and even IF it was possible you better take your money to aldi and buy a dvd player.

much like the famous chips that can play allow xbox to play ps2 games....o i love these bull**** rumours

the gd rom techology is much or less just a cd with super compressed data, you would get the same reaction if you put a dvd in a cd rom drive

but with various tools you could rip a dvd movie in divx format and play it back on your dc with dcdivx, no chip required....just pacience

Yep, he's right schumy2001. The only way the DC could play an actual DVD disc was with the Dreamcast DVD add-on, but that was cancelled. VCD's are not as well known as DVD's (Well at least in the US the're not, unlike most Asian countries) so people might mistake VCD for a DVD.
