FOR USB 2 and Recorder gurus
Facts : Windows XP Pro SP1, MSI K7T266Pro ( 4 USB 2.0 ports), AMD XP 1800, chopset VIA.
I changed my YAMAHA CRW 2200E for a new DVD burner. I decided then rather than throwing my Yamaha to buy an external USB bo to transform my IDE burner inside an external burner. I plugged it on a USB 2 port (because the box is USB 2). Problem : When I launch CloneCD and Nero the external USB yamaha is recognised by both softwares. But there is no way to burn a cd. CloneCD says the burner is not compatible (which is not the case) and Nero stops the burning while doing the lead-in (at least it starts and tried to burn). Should I download the USB firmware for the Yamaha or should I install a specific USB 2.0 driver ? If any specialist could answer that would be great . |

Did the same with an old Plex 12/10/32 and it worked perfectly, Nero sees the same device name (only just on a different adapter)
So burn software should recognize your yamaha too as it did before. Did you try to burn a CD-R at a lower speed to see if this works? Maybe there is a firmware update available @ msi which could solve this |
