Help !!

Hi, I'm new to all this and have a problem.
I have bought American Conquest and have successfully made a back up copy using CLONE CD. I want to install it at work as well but don't want to take the disc and subsequently found a patch on GAMECOPY WORLD. I have downloaded the patch and am now stuck. I downloaded it into my "My Documents" (Is this OK ?) and then tried to activate the patch but it just says that it can't find the relevant file (Wintab32.dll). I did a manual search for the file and found it in the American Conquest File. What am i doing wrong ?
Basically i am a newbie and need to know how to do the following

1. Install the game - Full installation (Ive done this)
2. Replace the original DMCR.EXE executable with the one from the Executable Archive (What ?????)
3. Play the game (I wish !)

Thanx

Backup (just make a copy for new patches) the original DMCR.EXE, then copy the patched/cracked exe to the directory where you installed the game, overwriting the original DMCR.exe

Lightbulb replying how to replace (i think)

it works fine to me !!
just follow the instructions.
"REPLACE" mean overwrite the main executable files in your game directories, (.exe file)
in this case replace the DMCR.exe

Not always the best sultion. Alwats keep an backup of the original .exe file. Now these days when U patch the game it's checking CRC-sum (or CRS-SUM or somthing like that) and file size. And the cracked one aren't the right .exe file.
So when U try to patch (in most case) U need to delete cracked .exe and rename the backup original .exe in the same name that's was before then patch. Then backup the .exe file AGAIN, then download a new crack and install.

But this is not in all games but most games. When U are trying to update. So if U screw up the original .exe file U might get loos of some patches.

Thanx to everybody.
I moved the downloaded file from My Documents into the game file and double clicked on it to open up the patch. Everything is working fine. I didn't delete the old file, i just executed the downloaded one.

Touch wood, the game is work OK and without the disc.
