dvd backup

i am trying to make a dvd backup copy to play as a vcd, the problem is i have a programme called dvd wizard pro v5.75 which gets me all the software and a step by step guide on how to rip a dvd etc, i used smartripper to rip the dvd to the hard drive and then i used dvdx 1.6 to encode it to mpeg1, it copied the film ok but there is someone talking over the film(i think it is the film director) how can i stop this from happening?, ive read a lot of guides and not one guide mentions this.
