what is the best type of dvd-r to use to make back-ups for a ps2 and a sony dru-500a...and where can i get it for a reasonable price?

Verbatim or Traxdata are the best media for ps2 dvd based games.

See if you can get RITEK or DVDMaster. Alternatively if you can walk into a shop and site the dvdr pick any brand that have a dark purple burn surface, The darker the better. Be cautios about verbatim as I had serious snags with them. Ordered five and got five coasters!! Two crapped out in mid burn!! the only two out of about 200 burns. A mate convinced me that I just got a bad batch so ordered another five and got same results. If you can get them then Traxdata, DVDMaster or RITEK are top DVDR's and should give you no probs at all.

thanks man, but i've read on this forum that there are two types of ritek (dark purple, and light purple), where is a place i can buy reliable ritek dvd's?

Go here www.shop4tech.com they have ritek good disks for cheap!
