record and verify

in a previous post, i asked for help with my computer freezing up during the recording phase (recordnowmax + sonydru500). to be more specific it is happening during the verify phase. i tried to backup gtavice city again. when it froze (again) i decideed to stick it in the ps2 (vs7 + magic3) to see if it worked and YES!!! success. now i didn't play the whole game, but it booted up no problem and was working just like the original. has anyone else had this occur? or am i setting myself up because somewhere in the game it is going to crash? is the " record and verify " just to make sure that coasters aren't being made? has anyone had succes with a different setting at this part of the process? anyway, thank you to everyone that has helped me to make my first working backup! ( so far i hope)

psx_paul is on a distinguished road
the verify stage isn't essential to the backup process.
