Some phillips will. You'll just have to try. Nearly all drives, that are compatible with cloneCD, will read without a hitch. Very few drives will burn a completely working SD2 disc.

Use cloneCD and read to an image, checking only quick error skip. There is no subchannel data on an SD2 disc.

Even though a drive may be completely compatible with cloneCD, it doesn't always correctly burn an image. You'll just have to give it a try. For burning, check only "Always close last session" and burn Dao/Raw.

If just the game.exe is protected, the game will install. But the real test is whether or not the game will start. Give it a little longer than what the original takes. It will either start or it won't.

Some SD2 games also protect the setup.exe (ra2 for instance.) In that case, if your image didn't correctly burn, the game won't even install!

Once again, JUST GIVE IT A TRY!!!

There is always PLAYBACKUP. Neat little proggie which, although not quite as well engineered as Daemon Tools, does however allow an altered CD to run.
As we all know, SD2 uses special byte sequences on the original CD to prevent most burners from copying 'em. PLAYBACKUP converts these areas into easily burnable ones, then converts 'em back "on the fly" to what SD2 expects. It patches a CloneCD image after you've read the disc. I know it isn't a perfect copy as it requires PLAYBACKUP to be installed, but it is certainly a neat solution to a right royal pain in the arse!
