Well.....no!

Sure, if you have a (guess) Safedisk > 2.70.xx -Unwrapper and the game has no CD-Check hardcoded in the programm. Else you have to remove this check manually after unwrapping.

Don't ask here, how to do, before tryed urself with some tutorials around!

Good luck

well, you may be right...but i think you are wrong....look,if you had something that works for many people why not give it to the public?one way or another macromedia will always produse more difficult to break protections euther something is released or not...and anyway....macromedia guys are in all these sites...they may even be you or me or guys that answer many other questions ...well at least i surely know for my self thaT i am not one of them.........

I have differing thoughts on your one way or another argument. Yes, of course it gets worse with each new version, but in-depth knowledge of the latest unwrappers would make it a lot easier for them to find counter-measures against them. This way they have to do trial and error to see which new protection trick is most effective.

And also i do not think the people who develop these unwrappers share their knowledge with just about anyone. There are probably as many people out there who know how to actually write an unwrapper for the latest Safedisc/SecuROM from crap as there are people who really understand what Einstein's theory of relativity is all about. And i would think these people know how to fool Macrovision by, lets say, setting up decoys or things like that. At least thats what i would do.
But thats just little ol' me speculating about some stuff i really know nothing about

Well, the problem is to code a generic unwrapper for all games protected with one version...sometimes there's additional checks and other crap you gotta deal with...bogus code, crc-checks and of course, some nasty anti-debugging tricks.... most of them can be fixed manually but to make an automatic unwrapper for all... wooahh...remember, that's just for ONE version....getting the picture??

Of course it is difficult, if it wasnt more people would be able to do it.

Macrovision already knows how to unwrap their own stuff so they already know how any unwrapper would work. They don't need to study a public wrapper so withholding a wrapper from the public does nothing to deter Macrovision from constantly revising its protection. If Macrovision wants to see if the latest version of their protection has been broken, all they have to do is see if cracks for games which use it are available. So, if you release a crack to a game, you might as well release the wrapper because either way Macrovision knows that version of their protection has been broken.

The gaming community needs more sharing of cracking techniques NOT less. For example, if it weren't for r!sc's sharing of his Safedisc crack source code, the Safedisc unwrappers like Bool's which derive from it would not exist (or would have at least taken much longer to develop). The copy-protection developers constantly change their protections regardless of what the crackers do because the developers already know how their protections can be broken and realize that with enough time and effort, others will do exactly that.

Not necessarily - just because there's a crack available doesn't mean there has been an unwrapper developed (although there usually will be at some point). Crackers would be able to crack the protection for one game pretty fast, but it's a different matter making a generic unwrapper for that protection.

hey guys look...macrovision is a company ...she has many people working there to earn their living...if they couldn't develop some new methods of protecting the cds they would get fired...i don't think that we would like that if we were at their position...in someway i like it that we cannot have an unwrapper for all the copy protections cause it makes me want to read more so i can understand the protection..i hate guys that want to get some really good reasults by doing nothing and then telling to some of their friends...oh yes i cracked that one yesterday..piece of cake...i think that unwrappers should be made only for saving time and not for saving the lilly %ss of some losers...

Whether a generic unwrapper exists or not is a moot point. The bottom line is the protection has been broken and must be revised to try to prevent it from being broken in the future.

Of course, the people at Macrovision already know their stuff can always be broken and therefore change it continuously regardless.

The trouble is there is little or no public information about the latest versions of these copy-protections. The few people who know how to defeat them are not sharing what they know.

You are losing sight of the goal. The goal is to remove the copy-protection from the game so it can be run from any type of drive without hassles. I don't care if some deluded kids claimed they cracked the game or even wrote the game themselves. I just want the deprotected files.

Yes the fixed exe's will always be released - the unwrappers are kept private and safe because of the reasons argued above.
