Laser dies..

Hi everyones, here's the deal..
I own a v4 R With a neo 2.2 and recently after 8 months of owning the ps2 i started to notice that my dvd-rs start to freeze and a strange laser noise is heard. I used my dvd rips regarding the problems that they may occure to the laser as i ve read over and over.. Now i cant play dvd-rs over 10 min. but all cd-rs work fine.. (Also the original ones!) Does anyone know if this means that my laser is dying on me.. Will i soon face problems with my cd-rs too? If i calibrate the laser will i gain anything or after a while i ll face the same prob?
I am also aware about the neo 2.2 creating probs on the laser but i installed a capacitor. Finally if i buy a new ps2 what solutions do you advise(Messiah? ps2 v? etc).. will i face probs with messiah?
Thanx a lot for the time

Warlock is on a distinguished road
All neo chips, no matter if its a neo2 or a neo4 pulse 5 volts to the laser instead of the 3.3 volts it normally recieves. A capacitor is installed to help this but it does not prevent damage. It only slows it down. Neo manufactures know this yet have done nothing to correct it. Messiah as well as Origa-chip have corrected this.
