NO-CD patch for American patch for Arx Fatalis

I need a no-cd for the new American Arx Fatalis patch. Its labeled arx_patch_v1_14_us. I bought the game, but I cant stand having to change CDs every time I want to play another game (already got small scratches on the CD and only had it 3 days now ). Any help or link would be appreciated.

Thanks in Advance

I cant believe it! The US patch removes the CD check...... I know it had a check with the out of the box version cause I could not get it to run without sticking in my CD. I had already installed the patch and never tried the game without the CD. A few minutes ago I went to play it. As Im running around the Underdark (this is a great game by the way), I go to put my Pepsi down. I notice a CD in the way. When I look its the ARX game disk. Apparently, I didnt take the Music CD out from earlier. I removed all cd from my drives and restarted a game. Worked perfect without the CD. Tried 3 more times and same results. I had never tried a CD-less start up after the patch cause I have never seen a developer remove the protection in an official patch. I must say I am surprised but happy.

P.S. Do many companies remove their copy protection with the patches?

Yes, you'd be surprised how many companies bring out a game with an expensive protection like safedisc 2, only to remove it in a later official patch, presumably because they got tired of the angry customers that can't get their bought game to run

I also applied the patch to my game (1.14 US/UK) and it does ask for the CD--every time.

I enjoy the game enough to tolerate putting the CD in each time but would prefer a no-CD hack.

Don't know how he got it to work without a CD!?

Ya...

I dunno what the original poster is talking about, because it doesn't work for me either.

If I run without the original CD, it says "wrong disc inserted" with a "retry or cancel" option. I'd like to know how he has his setup if that really works.

I too would like a 1.14 enlish no cd.. Where is it? Why hasn't anyone made one yet? They usually come out fairly quickly.

I haven't got the game, so I don't know whether the latest patch disables the copy protection or not. It seems to do that for DMC23. I'm keeping an eye out for a 1.14 nocd, but I have seen nothing yet. You might want to try out Alcohol120%, it's rumored to be able to emulate Securom New, although I haven't been able to try this yet.

well it doesn't work for me I have tried reinstalling it a couple times too. It says wrong cd when you run without it.

I'm gonna just clonecd and mount it in daemon tools for now I think, until something comes out, or I can get more information on how to really crack it.

I think it's securom new, and I think you need a .mds media descriptor file for daemon tools. Maybe the latest blindwrite or clonecd has an option to make this file ?

I dont know why this game doesnt work for you guys. I just installed and uninstalled. When I started it up it didnt ask for a CD. I have noticed something different though. Before I install the patch, a small spinning disc icon would appear. I think all of us know what Im talking about---- the securom new antichrist......LOL I mean that stupid icon securom uses when it searches for the cd. But since I installed the patch (and can you really can it installing? The programmers just give you the files and tell you to put them in your folder. I got no problem doing this, but what about Joe Smoe who is PC ignorant? He just wants to enjoy his game..... enough ranting), the program starts differently. There is no securom spinning CD icon. A small window appears with Arx Fatalis 1.14 in the top bar. Its just like I was trying to run a game in a window. After about 15 to 20 seconds, the game goes full screen and you see the JoWood intro. This never happened in 4 days of play until I install the new patch. Any ideas?

P.S. I do have Daemon 3.23 installed with all emulation options selected, but I don't have an image of the game install on the virtual drive.

P.S.S. I also understand if you guys are skeptical. With all the idiots running around yelling, :"I can copy securom new cds......yeah thats the ticket," I probably wouldnt believe my post either. But for some reason the game works without the CD now. Im not going to question it. Im just happy I dont have to search for that CD.

It's not a question of not trusting or believing you, or being skeptical. It's just that, for me, it's not working!

I have the normal english (american) version, installed, and then I put the official 1.14 patch on from Larian.com. I have tried reinstalling it about 3 times so far. It never works without the CD. Wish I could see how yours is setup or something For me, it pops up a window with "Wrong disc inserted" everytime.

Gonna try the virtual disc tommorow.

Oh, we believe you alright seems that Securom new (and arx fatalis uses this too) still has some bugs in it, making all kinds of weird things happen. You posted your story, and I believe it, and others posted about their problems, and I believe them too. Securom seems to be a bit random about kicking in these days, just let us know if it suddenly wants the cd again.
