AVI vs. BIN/CUE to VCD

Do you all prefer AVI to VCD or BIN/CUE to VCD?

I know we all hate the encoding part of AVI to MPG to VCD. I heard that taking BIN/CUE to VCD is simply the quickest, because you forgoe the encoding part.

I know Nero 5 can take BIN files and burn them to VCD, but have heard bad things (like no menus etc.). I heard Fireburner is the best for this.

If you all had to choose, would you choose to get the movie to VCD via AVI or BIN? And what program would you use?
