No mod chip needed

Has anyone tried the following, I've been told it works.

To play back-ups in ps2 follow steps below

1) Open disc tray and turn playstation upside down
2) Using a knife gently side the cover off the front of tray by pushing the knife into the small gaps.
3) Keep the cover in a safe place. You can put it back on if ps2 goes faulty, as your warranty is still intact.
4) Turn ps2 right way up, close tray and reset
5) Insert DVD region X CD and wait until it loads.
6) Gently push the plastic key into the gap in the centre of the tray and push to the right – you should be able to feel the pin.
7) Push the Pin as far right as it will go. You will know when it is pushed far enough as the tray will come out slightly.
8) Pull open the tray and remove the Region X CD and insert the copied game.
9) Close the tray and use the small hook on the plastic key to pull the pin back towards the centre of the tray.
10) Press start on the joy pad and the game should start up.

* Please Note* When moving the pin across do not use too much force or you might break the pin.

keys available, contact if needed.

Yes it does work... for a while. It doesn't take too long for it to mess up your PS2, then your screwed. It's not worth it.

MOD IT!! SAVE THE MACHINE

I have to agree with bighap--I know from experience. Ever find a little rubber band looking thing, like what they used to put on braces? If so, you already screwed up the front end of the drive trays stabilization scheme, and eventually will start getting misreads. The box has to be opened to re-install those grommets.

Almost no excuse for not modding the box--especially if you were willing to fork out $40 for a GS2 to swap with a knife/credit card. The no solder mods can be bought for $10 to $20 (depening on version of PS2) plus shipping. The Magic 2's are about $90/$100 plus shipping in US (Some may be getting cheaper since they're getting more distributors). And they don't require a GS2--they "cold-boot" just about anything!!!!

Save your box--mod it. If you screw it up with the knife, you think the warranty won't be voided????

Talking

Its amazing what people will try just to save a few $'s or £'s for the price of the mod chip and installation....

Ask yourself a question, do you realy want to risk screwing up your PS2 for the sake of a few note's?
