Problems with my ASUS 8x DVD Reader....

Can anyone help me out on this one.. When I play DVD movies on my dvd It has little pauses in it all the time during the movie.. and it is irritating the hell out of me.. I have a 400 pentium with 192 meg of ram and a voodoo 3500 tv output card.. Damn man I should not have this problem.. Everything else works fine on it but the movie watching.. Im using my voodoo card as the mpeg encoder.. and it says it should do the trick.. But Lately Im wondering.. Please help if you can.. Thanks..
