PS2 boot problem...

Hi every one. A question which can be answered only by an expert. I have a ps2 30004R and a correct version mod chip installed. I use AR2 v2 to boot my backups.
The problem is that although I've played my 50 backups over and over w/t out any problem why is it that many times they wont boot.Or that the swap trick wont work and the trey will refuse to eject. This happens quite offen... I always use the correct steps with the correct timing.Usualy the problem is to boot a dvd-r which i have to use the swap trick.
For instance i insert the backup i press x and instead of the game to boot a small noise is been heard(note that the cd turns and can be heard), which is similar to the one when we press reset or eject.Could it be the (resistor or capasitor(i dont know how its called))
Also sometimes when AR2 kills my time and my nerves i use another solution which is Mega Memory 16.( You probably know this memory card that comes with a small cd and boot inorder for your ps2 to recognise the 16mb memory card). Through this cd I mannage many time to boot my backups when AR2 cant.
Finally and very sorry for the hall page, or my games will play one after another without any problems or it will refuse to boot anything.

It matters which modchip you are using as to the range of things that could be wrong.

In any case if you changed to Messiah, you can eliminate all but faulty installation, a dirty lens or a worn DVD laser.
